Introduction

VNSE is a virtual machine that contains a (dormant) vSTREAM Agent and acts in the same way as a vSTREAM virtual appliance.  VNSE can be deployed on ESXi 5.5 or higher.

Installation

Step 1: download the archive

You should receive a download link from COMCERT.

Step 2 : checksum the file

Computer the MD5 checksum and compare with the original value.  DO NOT deploy the ovf if the values don't match.

Step 3: deploy ovf

We assume you are familiar with deploying an ovf in vSphere Center.

After deployment, the vm will have the following properties:

  • 2 CPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • HD1 = 65GB
  • HD2 = 235GB
  • Two NIC

The first NIC is used for management and must be assigned to the corresponding port group in VMware.  The COMCERT engineer will configure a static IP after deployment.

The second NIC is used for monitoring and must be connected to a port group that allows monitoring of all VLAN on the hypervisior.  For the moment, leave this interface assigned to "VM Network".

Step 4: start virtual machine

The COMCERT eningeer will take over from here.
