Introduction

The recent ANSI/TIA 568-D.2 and ISO/IEC 14763-4:2021 test paradigm Modular Link Terminated Link (MPTL) requires one Patch Cord Adapter .

DSX CableAnalyzer does not ship with patch cord adapters, so you need to purchase one.

The ISO/IEC 11801 equivalent for this type of link is expected to be introduced with the next update of the standard.  For the time being, we recommnend to use the TIA MPTL limits to test MMPTL links outside North America.

Solution

You'll need one Patch Cord adapter per pair of DSX modules for MPTL testing.

Patch Cord Adapters are suitable for all DSX models:

Model Desription
DSX-PC5E Single Cat 5e Adapter with Shielded Cat 5e Patch Cord Jack Installed
DSX-PC6 Single Cat 6 Adapter with Shielded Cat 6 Patch Cord Jack Installed
DSX-PC6A Single Cat 6A Adapter with Shielded Cat 6A Patch Cord Jack Installed

The same adapters are also available is sets of two.

In case the RJ45 jack is damaged and needs replacement, these are the spare parts you need:

Model Desription
DSX-PCTAC5EKS Set of two Shielded Cat 5e Replacement Patch Cord Jacks
DSX-PCTAC6KS Set of two Shielded Cat 6 Replacement Patch Cord Jacks
DSX-PCTAC6AKS Set of two Shielded Cat 6A Replacement Patch Cord Jacks

Not replacing a worn-out or damaged RJ45 jack may leed to false negative test results.

These spare parts come as a set of two.
