Introduction

The following are things to know about as a part of migration from TruView v10 to TruView v11

Solution

Applications

v10 n-tier applications are NOT migrated to v11

SNMP

For v10, SNMP is configured per domain. For v11, SNMP is global. So, SNMP from ALL domains will appear in EVERY domain in v11.

Example:

v10 Default domain has public, and default as community strings. Other domain has other as community strings.

v11 will have public, default, and other as community strings for Default domain and for Other domain.

Tags

For v11.0 and v11.1, tag names are limited to A-Z, a-z, 0-9, _. Any Tag Name with other characters will be stripped of those characters. Two rules apply:

  • Spaces will be replaced with underscores.
  • Any other special character will be stripped

Example:

My Special Tag Name$@ will become My_Special_Tag_Name

For v11.2, special characters are supported and migration of tags will ONLY strip out '  " . or $ from the tag name.

Any v10 tags for entities of type servers are NOT migrated over to v11.

Users

Users will migrate from v10 groups to v11 groups this requires the modifying of the three groups v11 comes standard with.
The three default groups are:

  • System Administrator
  • Domain Administrator
  • User

These groups must exist or users, groups and group associations will not be created.

System admins in v10 that are not power users become domain admins in v11 because system admin is global for domains.

Passwords in v10 are one way hashed and cannot be retrieved, for this reason all migrated local users in v11 will have the password **ChangeMe!**

User Groups

Group permissions will be migrated from v10 to v11 with the following mappings:

v10 v11
User / Traffic Caputre or Troubleshooting / Trace File Trace File
User / Report Scheduling or APM Reporting or NPM Reporting Report Scheduling
User / Email Notification Notification
User / Portal Page Management Page Management
APM Configuration or NPM Configuration Domain Admin
Sever Settings and License Admin and Portal Admin System Admin
